This study aims to determine the effect of the cooperative learning model
Teams Games Tournament (TGT) on students’ learning motivation. The research
employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving two
groups: an experimental group and a control group. The instrument used was a
learning motivation questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability.
Prerequisite tests included normality and homogeneity tests. The results showed
that the data were not normally distributed, although the variance between groups
was homogeneous.
Given these conditions, the data were analyzed using the Welch test, which
serves as an alternative to the independent t-test when the assumption of normality
is violated. The analysis revealed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating
a significant difference in learning motivation between students taught using the
TGT model and those who were not. These findings suggest that the TGT model
effectively enhances students' learning motivation through a learning environment
that is competitive, enjoyable, and collaborative.
